Autoimmune disease - Lupus

As the name implies, Lupus is a disease whereby the body immune system attack itself and there are 2 types of Lupus disease. SLE or or DLE. SLE affects different parts of the body and even organs. Thus, SLE is the more serious types. DLE is the less serious type because it only affects the skin.

Supplements required, both Nutrilite and other brands:

  • Calcium Magnesium: 1/1/1/1
  • Protein Powder: 1/1/1/1
  • B-complex: 3/3/3/3 (Take 1 in between the timings).
  • Omega 3: Take flaxseed oil. Buy it from Organic store.
  • EPO Plus: Take according to bottle instructions.
  • Garlic and Licorice: Take according to bottle instructions.
  • Bio-C: 4/4/4/4
  • Multi-vit. Either Daily or Double X. If taking Daily, take 1 tablet, 3 times a day. If taking Double X, 2 times will do.
  • Nutri-bifidus: Take 1 strip during each meal.
  • Multi-carotene: 3/3/3/3. If skin turn orange, stop. Once it is clear, repeat the cycle.
  • Lecithin E: 4/4/4/4 for 1 week. Thereafter, increase it to 8/8/8/8. If not, just ensure you achive 32 tablets per day.
  • Bromelain: Take according to bottle instructions.
  • Milk Thistle: 4 tablets before sleep.
Taking supplements are not enough. There are food that is good and bad for Lupus. Taking food that is bad for Lupus will only aggravate the symptoms and cause more sufferings. Thus, avoiding these food is very very critical.

  • Eat a diet of low fat, low salt and red meat. This is because you want to take care of the kidney. Should you want to eat salt, take seasalt or rock salt, not table salt. Take salt moderately. Thus, fast food is a no no to Lupus. It contains too much salt.
  • When come to cooking, use olive oil only.
  • Eat only full-grain rice such as brown rice, millet and etc... No white rice.
  • Eat lots of green vegetables.
  • Eat lots of non-acidic fruits. Acidic fruits are lemon and oranges. These fruits contain citrus acid. Tropic fruits are good. Especially papaya and pineapple. It contains enzymes to prevent inflammation.
  • After each meal, eat at least a serving of fresh papaya and pineapple. Fresh, not canned.
  • Take at least 2 tablets of Fiber to ensure daily bowel movement.
  • No dairy products.
  • No caffeine a products.
  • No sweet stuffs such as cakes and etc...

  • Avoid Alfalfa, green sprouts and similar types of greens.
  • Get plenty of rest and do brisk walking. Best to do during night time since it is cool and there is no sunlight. If not, do it in the early morning.
  • Use sunscreen when going out during daytime.
  • Use hypoallergenic soaps only.
  • Avoid fluorescent lighting at home. It is unavoidable in both office and shopping area. You have to wear your sunscreen. At home, if possible, change the light to incandescent light bulbs. http://www.itzarion.com/lupus-sun-uv.html
  • Don't go to places with lots of people. Who knows you may catch a cold or cough.
  • No birth control. If need to control birth, use condoms instead.
Bathing:
  • Use a filtered shower head. Cholrine is quite harmful to rashes.
  • Use gentle shower cream or gel on the body. I suggest either Amway body shampoo or Dish drop. If both can't work, try those organic baby body shampoo that does not contain any chemical.
  • Basically, any soap that will dry the skin will be bad for Lupus patient.

Multi-carotene and Yellow Orange Skin

If you have yellow orange on your palm, not to worry about it. The body is simply telling you that the Liver can no longer store carotenoid and now, it is releasing it to the bloodstream.

What we need to do is stop taking caroteniod related supplements and fruits.

It will take a few days to clear the colour. No big deal.

Wife supplements for last trimester

Nowadays, the baby is growing very fast and I can see she is getting more tired than the last one. Also, baby rapid growth means the mother needs to take more nutrients to supplement the growth.

This is how it should be taken: after breakfast/after lunch/after dinner/before sleep.

Bio-C: 4/4/3/4
Calcium/Magnesium: 1/1/1/1

Health Pointe 2.0 verdict

Yesterday was my last day of doing Health Pointe 2.0. Although I couldn't follow the food menu completely, I was able to lose weight. Amazing.

I think these are the crucial things that we need to do during Health Pointe.
  • Snack every hour accurately. Carry a watch that has timer. I carry my casio watch wherever I go. Once the timer beep, I will snack. This is something I had never done before. By snacking every hour, it keeps a blood sugar balance, stop craving and last but not least, tell the body that food is easily available. Thus, there isn't a need for the body to store fats.
  • Drinks lots of water. This is something that I didn't do enough in the past. When the body is well hydrated, it will flush out toxins and enables the kidney to function optimally. At least I don't feel thirsty this week. Usually, we tend to drink when we feel the thirsty. This is bad for the body.
  • Take carbohydrate out of the diet. Well, my diet doesn't really have much carbohydate since I'm not a rice person. I usually get my carbohydrate from vegetables and noodles.
  • This diet forces me to take fibre tablets before meal and because of this, I have more than one bowel movement per day. This is excellence because, we should have at least 2 to 3 times a day.
  • This diet forces me to take at least 4 Omega 3 per day. In the past, I will only take 2 or some days, not at all. I'm not too sure what it has done to me but one thing for sure, I think I didn't feel so stress. Taking so much oil didn't increase the fat percentage. I know a lot of people who put on weight when they take Omega 3. I wonder what did they do wrong?
  • The program encourages us to do at least 10,000 steps per day. As for me, I'm already doing a lot more. But what I discovered was, I have more energy to do my exercise as compared to last time. I felt I can last longer. I tested it by doing bodycombat follow by bodystep. Both are cardio intensive exercises that are not meant for beginners. I was able to last the entire bodystep class without feeling exhausted after combat. Not bad!!!
So what verdict is? I think whether you are over weight or not, I will encourage you to do Health Pointe for the following reasons:
  • If you are obese, just do it. God does not send us sms before he sends heart attack.
  • If you are fat % is above the recommended limit, just do it to burn some fats.
  • If your hydration level is below the recommended limit, just do it.

Weight: 74.4
Fat%: 17.1% (This is definitely better than before)
Water: 60.5% (Hydration has gone up. This is good for the body)

Dinner: I had a bowl of fried fish soup with yee mee. And thereafter, my wife didn't finish her fried fish meat. I ate that portion too.

When I reached home, I checked my weight. Here's the reading:

Why am I not losing weight?

A lot of time, I will get this question from people who are on a weight lose program.

Yes, you may have lost fats, lose some inches here and there and yet, the weight is still constant. Why is that so?

To understand this, we need to know the 3 phases of housekeeping by the body when you are on a weight lose program.

Our body will go into three phases of housekeeping:

Catabolism->Stabilization->Anabolism


Catabolism is a process whereby the body breakdown molecules into smaller units. These smaller units are made up degenerative materials in the body. Hence, during this phase, the body will discard all the old or not-so-good cells out of the body and replace it with new cells. The production of these new cells depend very much on the food we eat. If we eat clean and nutritious food, our body will build nice and good cells. And that's what we should do. During this phase, we will lose weight. This is because the rate of destroying the old tissues is faster than the rate of growing the good tissues. And of course, we will lose fats too. During this stage, it is important to drink lots of water.


Stabilization is whereby the rate of destruction is equal to the rate of growth. During this period, we stop losing weight. This is the phase whereby you no matter what you do, you don't seem to lose weight.


The last stage is anabolism. This is the final phase of the body regenerative process. During this stage, our calorie intakes maybe low but because the rate of growth is faster than the rate of destroying old tissues, we will start to put on weight. In fact, based on my person experience, I had actually gained 2 kg during this phase.


Lastly, if we experience any sickness, don't panic. It is just a sign that the body is detoxifying. Learn to live with it and we will be fine. So where are you now?

Supplements for old people

Asking old folks to take supplements can be challenging. Especially they are adverse to taking pills, thinking they are taking medicines.

If that is the case, you are not alone. My father is the same too. Seeing his health going down the drain makes me worry. On the other hand, he doesn't want to take supplements.

So what should we do?

Well the minimum is to get old folks take a multi-vitamin. And it depends if they can take more, then add on to it.

These 2 are a must:
  • Daily: Take it 1 tablet 3 times a day. This better than taking Double X because to the old folks, Double X is too many. 6 tablets a day compared to 3 tablets a day.
  • Salmon Omega Fish Oil: 1 capsule 3 times a day.
These are optional:
  • Milk Thistle: 4 tablets before sleep.
  • COQ10: 1 capsule 3 times a day.
  • Saw Palmetto: 2 capsules 3 times a day for your father.
Actually, if they are willing to swallow more, give them calcium, B-complex, Bio-C, Lecithin E and Multi-carotene.

Are you doing Water Delivery?

Here's an important question?

Before you get pregnant or you are now already pregnant, have you decided your delivery mode? If you have decided to do water delivery, then I would like to congratulate you for making this decision. Because, if you are doing water delivery, it will be a drug-free delivery.

Why is this important? Here are the advantages of doing water delivery. By the way, I'm not a gynae. so check out with your gynae first before making any decision. And also, not every gynae will support water delivery. I won't tell you the reason, you go and find out yourself.
Here are the advanatages of water deliver:
  • Water is a natural pain-killer. It reduces the pressure on the body. That is why a pregnant lady can swim, but can't jog.
  • When you deliver in the water, you are squatting. That means, the distance between the vaginal and the baby head is at the shortest. If you are lying down to push the baby, good luck to you. Do you realize that mother earth is not helping you? Instead, she is pulling your baby down. You will need to work extra hard to push it out.
  • The water temperature will be warm. That means, it will be very soothing to you and the baby. When the baby is out of the mother's body, the little one is still in the water. The baby won't get a shock. He will still survive in the water because the umblical cord is still with him. You won't be surprise the baby can be in the water as long as you don't cut the cord.
  • The water will also help to clean the baby although it will be fill with blood and anomic fluid, and any other stuffs that you may think of.
  • Water delivery is natural birth. That means, you will recover very fast as compared to other mothers.
  • Because you are squatting, your doctor will not do episiotomy. Anyway, it is good not to do it. A cut is a cut. It is considered a wound. Mother nature will know how to heal a natural wound, not something that is cut by foreign force.
After talking so much good thing about water delivery, here come's the bad news:
  • Not every doctor believe or will do water delivery. You have to find a gynae who actually believes in it. Not many out there in Singapore.
  • The hospital that you are engaging must have the facilities for you to do water delivery or believe in it.
  • Lastly, you need a doula with you with you to do water delivery. This is a must.
So how now?
  • There are 2 hospitals in Singapore that will do water delivery. They are Thompson Medical and Mount Alvernia Hospital. You have to check out these hospitals yourself and make your own decision.
  • There are 2 only gynaes in Singapore that will do water delivery with you. They are Dr. Paul Tseng and Dr. FM Lai. You have to check out these 2 gentlemen and see who do you like.
  • You need to engage a Doula to help you with the water delivery.
What are my recommendations? Actually, I don't have much recommendations. Just to share with you with my current experience.
  • My wife and I was with another gynae at first. However, I'm someone who wants to do water delivery and the previous wasn't ready for it. So I switch to the current one. He is Dr. Paul Tseng and his office is at Thompson Medical Singapore. To find out more about him, just google Dr. Paul Tseng. I'm not promoting him. So you have to find his contact yourself.
  • My wife will be delivering in Mount Alvernia because many of her friends delivered their babies there. Also, they have a private room for water delivery.
  • You need to engage a doula who is experienced with water delivery. We are engaging parentlink.
Lastly, my baby due date is 1st Jan 09. I will update this blog again on my experience as a father doing water delivery with my wife.

China milk problem, so how now?

Are you drinking milk?
Are your kids drinking milk?
Are your elders drinking milk?

Have you ever asked yourself why do you need to drink milk? Is it because the advertisement tell you that drinking milk is good? Or the government says drinking milk is good? The question is, have you ever asked yourself what's the real purpose of drinking milk?

Most likely, your answer is to supplement calcium. Because I need calcium, that is why I need to drink milk. Nothing more, nothing less. However, let's ask ourselves whether milk is the best source of calcium intake.

Positive score: 1 point. Because we get calcium from Milk.

What about negative scores? - 3
  1. Milk is mucus forming. That means, it causes allergy. If you or your kids have sinus problem, I suggest you remove milk or any dairy related products from your diet.
  2. Milk increases the risk of hormone related cancer such as prostate or breast cancer.
  3. Milk increases the risk of type 1 diabetes in children.
Total score board is -2. So you can see, taking milk causes more harm than good. Since there is a health scarce now around the World, why not take the opportunity to stop drinking milk?

Calcium intake can be supplement through fruits, vegetables and meat. If not, you can take Nutrilite protein powder, Daily, Double X or Calcium Magnesium. Just follow the bottle instructions.

Plastic and Us

Recently, there is more awareness how plastic can affect our body. I believe some of us have been following the news regarding BPA. BPA stands for Bisphenol A. According to studies, BPA is presence in all polycarbonate products. What does that mean?

BPA is used in various products. To put it simply, if the plastic is made of poly something that you can't pronounce, most likely it contains BPA. Here's the situation, many of us grew up with plastic around us. So, how does it harm us? One thing that we know for sure, BPA affects the endocrine system.
The endocrine system is very much involve with the body metabolism. According to the Lang study that is published this month (Sept 08), people with high level of BPA in their urine are significantly with both cardiovascular (heart diseases) and metabolism challenges (Diabetes). So what do you think?

When we eat take away food, the food is stored in plastic styrofoam box. Does styrofoam contain BPA? I still remember, in my childhood days, my mother always used our metal container to pack take away food. Those days, there is no such thing as styrofoam box.

When we drink soft drinks, have you ever thought that those plastic bottles contain BPA?

What about using those paper cup laced with some sort of plastic? How does it affect us when we pour hot drink into it? Did you realize that it actually softens?

When these plastic chemicals leak and goes into our body, it will affect our Liver tremendously. Afterall, our Liver is the only organ that can remove these toxins. Actually, I'm not sure if it can really remove it.

So for now, I will really suggest that we stay away from plastic as much as possible.

Do take Milk Thistle regularly to strengthen our Liver. Take 4 Milk Thistle per night every night.

Food for thought for Cancer Recovery

What's the similarity between a baby and a cancer patient who has just finished his or her chemo? Hmm... you may wondering why am I comparing them?

For a simple reason, their cells are growing. A baby is dividing the cells rapidly because they are on rapid growth track. A cancer patient has all his or her good cells killed during the treatment and thus, they need to recover asap. That means, they need to grow their good cells back in order to fully recover. Not just that, both baby and a cancer patient are very vulnerable to infections. Thus, both must build up their immune system. So what do you think? Are they similar now?

If that's the case, what food should a cancer patient eat? Before I answer that question. Let me ask you, what kind of food would you feed a baby or a growing child? Think hard... Because, this will be your answer.

Now, you have to answer these questions seriously.

  • Will you feed a baby breast milk or formula milk?
  • Will you feed a growing child nutritious food or junk food?
  • Will you feed the baby or growing child with food that is easily digestible or those that will make you feel bloated?
  • Will you feed the baby or growing child with liver-friendly food or junk food?
  • Will you feed the kids with more fruit and vegetables or more meat?
  • What kind of cooking method will you employ? deep fried or steam/water cooking?
  • What kind of cooking utensils will you use? Non-stick or traditional wok or pan?
  • What kind of water will you let them drink? Soft drink or just plain filtered water?
  • Do you let the growing child/baby drink coffee/tea or just plain filtered water?
  • Drink hot/warm or cold water?
  • Hot/warm or cold food?
  • Protein Powder or Dairy products?
  • Do you prefer the kid to do light exercise or simply stay at home and do nothing?
  • Will you feed the baby or growing child with medicine/anti-biotic or high quality supplements to cure the illness?
Let me tell you a joke. There was once an American asked a German why both of them smoke so much, drink so much beer and yet, the Americans die earlier? The Germans think for quite a while and give the following answer. "You Americans eat a lot of fast food and we eat only fresh food."

Does this joke tell us something? Well, we need to eat more raw food than those junk food.

Why raw food? The nutritional value of the food is preserved. That is why the European tends to eat more salad and fruits than the Americans. Furthermore, the European tends to use a lot of high quality Olive Oil in their salad, which gives them the necessary good oil for the body. The European love to eat fresh fruits and they are more pro to Organic stuffs than the Americans. And that is why the Germans live longer than the Americans.

A typical diet should be 80% raw and 20% cooked. The higher the raw, the better it is. Raw food is easy on the stomach, friendly to the Liver and good for the entire body.

Should you want to eat rice, what kind of rice will you eat? white rice or full-grain rice? I will recommend that you eat Millet rice. It is easy on the stomach, it is full-grain and most importantly, it helps to heal the body.

So, before you want to buy food or drink for the cancer patient, ask yourself this question. Is this good for the baby or the growing child. If it is not good for them, then I will encourage you to look for alternatives for the cancer patient.

Then what about supplements?

  • At least 4 x Bio-C per day. More is merrier.
  • Always take LHF breakfast.
  • 1 x COQ10 per day.
  • Take at least 16 Lecithin E per day. Divide the dose. Take more the merrier.
  • At least 1 x Nutri-bifidus in one of the meals.

Supplements during fasting month

To all my Malay friends,

Here are some recommendations for you to consider:

1) I would recommend you to take LHF power breakfast to break fast. A very simple reason is because it is easier to digest after having no food in the stomach for the entire day. Furthermore, it helps to restore your digestive system. Thereafter, you can consider taking your normal food.


2) Take this opportunity to heal your Liver. Take 2 milk thistle together with your LHF breakfast and 2 before you sleep. Also, after you wake up, take squeezed lemon juice with warm water.

3) Go low on carbohydrates if possible. This is a good month to balance your blood sugar. 

4) This is the month that you will lose weight if you are on the over-weight side. Also, because you are not eating in the entire day, your fat will burn a lot and this will create a lot of oxidative stress. Take your Bio-C, Lecithin E and Multi-carotene. Lecithin E can be any amount. Bio-C take at least 4 or more in divided dose. As for Multi-carotene, take at least3 to 4. Stop if your skin turn orange.

5) Remember to do light exercise like walking.

Getting Pregnant

Have you and your wife working hard to conceive?

Well to put it simply, before you guys start trying, there is something you must really do. Forget about the doctor advice. That is, to test your quality first and this is very important.

Many doctors will tell you to try first. If it doesn't work, then let's check it out. I always wonder why such advice is given. Don't you think it is more important to check whether your raw material is good to go first before trying?

I have friends who had tried for one year with no result. Thereafter, went for checkout and the result showed either one quality was bad. Thus, they couldn't get any result. If they had knew it right from the start, his wife would have delivered by now.

New Studies conclude Omega 3's, not Statins, Cut Risk of Heart Deaths

Fish oils are better than cholesterol-lowering statin drugs. That's the conclusion of two long-term studies, published this week in the Lancet medical journal. The studies compared the effects of giving patients with heart failure cholesterol-lowering statin drugs or omega 3 fish oils versus placebo. Those given omega 3 fats had a significantly reduced risk of death or hospitalisation, while the statin drugs had no effect. Those taking 1 gram a day of omega 3 fats cut their risk of mortality by 9% and risk of admission to hospital by 8% compared to placebo. Those taking statins had no reduction in risk after almost four years on the drug.

This adds to the weight of evidence in favour of upping omega 3 intake, both from diet and supplements. Taking 1 gram of omega 3 fish oil a day, as given in this study, is equivalent to eating a serving of oily fish almost every day.

It also confirms growing evidence of ineffectiveness of statin drugs in reducing mortality, both in healthy people and those with heart failure. A previous meta-analysis of trials giving statins to healthy people found no difference in mortality after almost four years use.

Despite growing evidence of ineffectiveness the UK government remain committed to prescribing statins to millions of people, and GPs are financially rewarded for doing so. In the US there is a move to prescribe statins to 8 year olds as a preventative measure against future heart disease.

When this trial was designed, some medical experts even expressed concern that it was unethical to give heart-failure patients placebos because they were so confident of the benefit of statin therapy. According to the lead researcher Dr Philip Poole-Wilson from Imperial College, London "The results ultimately should humble researchers, especially as they serve as reminder that medical decisions should be guided by science, and not strongly held opinion." Beware, the junk food trap

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Breakfast cereals, aggressively advertised and promoted as healthy food for children, are making them fat, even obese.

Do not be fooled by the nutritional benefits printed on cereal boxes as the food inside is laden with fat, sugar and salt.This damning judgment is contained in the Junk Food Trap Report released by Consumers International (CI) here yesterday.

Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca) secretary-general Muhammad Sha'ani Abdullah warned that the junk food trap would cause hypertension, diabetes and high-cholesterol problems in Malaysia to soar.

Fomca is a member of CI.

Sha'ani said the impact such food had on Malaysian children and the national health budget was "too alarming" to ignore.

Last year, the Health Ministry spent RM180 million or 20 per cent of its RM900 million budget on drugs for chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.

CI Kuala Lumpur regional office head Datuk Indrani Thuraisingham said children brought up on these cereals, as well as fast food and drinks, faced a "health time bomb".

The Junk Food Trap Report revealed that each 100g box of cereal could contain up to 25 teaspoons of sugar.

The report was compiled based on a study of foods targeted at children below the age of 16, marketed by six multinational companies in eight countries.

Indrani said the research found that children were falling for the marketing ploys of foods that were high in fat, sugar and salt.

"These companies share the same characteristics. They use cartoon characters, cele-brities, free toys and competitions to attract children.

"But their food and drinks have a negative impact on children's health."

The research was conducted from April to June by CI representatives in Malaysia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand and the Philippines.

Indrani said fast food companies were also using insidious ways to sell to children, such as setting up membership clubs.

She said one international fast food chain had about 58,000 members in its club.

"Sometimes these companies go to schools to conduct activities, an indirect way of marketing to kids."

Sha'ani said Fomca would urge the government to develop stringent guidelines against the marketing of unhealthy food.

"Junk food marketing is a serious threat that we should address. They should stop promoting unhealthy food in schools in whatever form."

Fomca would ask for funding from the Health Ministry to conduct research on the impact of food marketing to children as it wanted the government to focus on preventive health care.

Sha'ani said it would also lobby the government to adopt the International Code on Marketing of Foods and Non-Alcoholic Beverages to Children, which had been submitted to the World Health Organisation.

Among the code's guidelines are a ban on radio or TV advertisements of unhealthy food from 6am to 9pm, ban on the inclusion of free toys or cartoon characters in food packaging and a ban on using new media, such as the Internet, and text messaging to lure the children.

The Biotta Week of Wellnes

I did the Biotta Wellness week detox about at least a month ago. I did not follow the instructions 100% because I did not read the instructions clearly. LOL... I'm just a typical sanguine. I was using the Breuss cancer detox method to follow the Wellness week. In the end, I realized I have some bottles of juices left.

Lazy legs

If your leg starts to feel lazy or some tingling feeling somewhere, you may want to increase your B-complex intake.

My wife leg has started to feel like that.

Besides the usual 3/3/3/3, take an extra tablet once every hour to ensure that you have enough vitamin B in the body. B-complex is water soluble and thus, it doesn't stay in the body. A regular intake will ensure that the body has enough vitamin B to maintain healthy nerve.

Wife supplements in the 20th week

Starting from today onwards, she will be taking Double X in her supplementation regime.

This is how it should be taken: after breakfast/after lunch/after dinner/before sleep.

Stott Pilates for my wife

My wife pregnancy is into her second trimester now. In order to build up her pelvic muscles, she has signed up pilates for the next few months.

This is very encouraging. At least, she will be exercising throughout her entire pregnancy. Furthermore, pregnant woman who does Pilates will gain back their posture faster and better than those who doesn't. If you don't believe me, just look around you.

My father is taking supplements

I guess, some of us or perhaps all of us, will find it very difficult to get our parents to take supplements.

This previous generation usually associate supplements to medicine. As long as it looks like a pill, it is medicine. Full stop... And this is the same for my father too.

My father is a diabetic and he suffers from high blood pressure. Thus, I have witnessed how his health suffered for all these years. Recently, his right hand joints have been feeling weak, couple with ear infections and a cataract. He had just went for a day surgery to remove the cataract. And because of this health challenges, he looked so fragile.

Sometimes, the old folks really need some events like this to open up their mind and start taking supplements. What old folks need are multi-vitamin, supplements for the bones and joints and good oil.

Why is that so? They need multi-vitamin because their diet has changed significantly now due to the lack of teeth or digestion problem. At a older age, they will tend to eat more vegetables, less meat or perhaps porridge. Thus, their nutrient intake is significantly reduced as compared when they were young.

A joint supplement because old people joint tends to be stiff due to wear and tear. This is what happening to my father now.

Essential oil such as omega 3 is important for old people brain. Not only that, it helps to lubricate their joint too.

  • COQ10 for the heart.
Also, encourage them to drink more green tea and less coffee or tea. Old people drinks coffee or tea because they are lacking of energy. Thus, they drink coffee or tea to jump start their day or to keep awake.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This info is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital was on a TV program to explain this health hazard.

He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as CorningWare, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food.

You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

Wife 2nd scanned yesterday

Yesterday, wife had a scanned.

According to the doctor, the length of the baby showed that it is about 12th weeks old. However, according to the chart, it is about 11th week old.

I was able to see the baby clearly. I can see the head, eyes, mouth, hands and legs. Also, I can see the spine and the placenta.

Since the placenta is forming, I have to ensure she takes her Lecithin E regularly.

There will be no change in her supplements intake. Everything the same.

Is your wife crazy about apples during pregnancy?

Does your wife want to eat apple during pregnancy? If she does, it maybe a sign that the body is lacking of certain nutrients. The urge to eat certain food during pregnancy is a sign of certain nutrient deficiency.

For example, because my wife has been taking at least 3 scoops of protein powder per day, she doesn't have the urge to eat soya food or egg to get protein.

Now, let's study the apple. It contains at least 4 gram of dietary fiber. Also, rich in phyto-nutrients. High in potassium and it has about 16g of sugar. Check this link. Isn't that interesting? Thus, does your wife have any low blood sugar or low blood pressure problem? Or she doesn't have the habit of eating fruits before she was pregnant? Or does she have any constipation problem before she was pregnant? If your answer is yes, then, this maybe why the body is always asking for apple.

Eating precautions during pregnancy

When a woman is pregnant, the following pre-cautions must be taken seriously:

  • Drink only WTS water. Do not drink office container water. They are distilled. It will drain the mineral from the body and it will definitely affect you. Do not drink bottled water. You afraid there maybe chemical leakage from the plastic bottle.
  • Install an air-purifier such as Atmosphere. It is important for the mother to stay healthy and breath in fresh air. Put it in your bedroom.
  • Eat only cooked food. It must be fully cooked. Not raw or medium-well. No sushi. Eat only hard-boiled egg. No soft-boiled egg.
  • No cold drinks.
  • No caffeinated drinks.
  • Do not eat cooling property food such cabbage, bittergourd and etc.
  • If you are taking herbs or Chinese herbs, you need to consult your Chinese doctor.
  • During pregnancy time, oil is very important to the baby development. Fast food or outside food use a lot of trans-fat and it is bad for the baby.
  • Eat lots of small meals instead of 3 large meals. Remember, calorie restriction, optimal nutrition. Too much calorie means increase in blood sugar that may lead to Gestational Diabetes. After all, woman will not able to burn calories by doing exercises.
  • Prepare lots of fruits around you. Eat raw fruits rather than drink fresh juices from hawker stall. During pregnancy time, your immune system will be weaken. The last thing you want to have is a bacterial infection. When you are not pregnant, drink fresh juices from hawker stall is fine even it is not so clean. However, during pregnancy time, this is different.
  • No seafood with shells. Crabs, prawns and etc... are no no.
  • Food that has a long shelf-life is a no no too. I believe you should know what I mean now. Your hot-dog, pink meat stuffs, luncheon meat, preserved vegetables and fruits are highly toxic.
Lastly, a balanced diet is ultra important for a pregnant mother. Whatever bad habit you have before must be corrected. If you don't take breakfast in the past, now you must have breakfast. If you like to skip meals in the past, now you must have regular meal. If you like to drink coffee or carbonated water in the past, now your only drink is clean filter water, not RO or distilled water.

5 million Malaysias may get diabetes

Wow!!! Isn't that an amazing number? One in four Malaysian may become a diabetes. adult Once a person has diabetes, most likely he or she has to be on medication for life. Although the illness can be reverse, many people out there either won't know or choose to ignore it.

What does that mean to us? It means a healthy passive income business for the doctors. You may say that I'm sarcastic, but let me tell you the truth. How many doctors that you have asked you to actually implement a health plan that can reverse the diabetic problems? If there is one, I really congratulate you.

Many of us today are eating too much of sugar free and cholesterol free food. Since they are free, we just keep eating it. And that is why, the current society is full of such health challenges. ?And by the way, sugar free doesn't mean it is free of sugar. Cholesterol fee doesn't mean it is free of cholesterol.

Let me tell you, when you eat a doughnut, do you know how much sugar it comes with it? When you your seafood such as chilli crab or prawns, do you how much cholesterol that comes with it? This is what I call free. You pay for the doughnut and all the sugar is free. You pay for the chilli crab and it comes free with all the bad cholesterol that you don't need.

It is times that we take charge of our diet and lead a better and healthier life.

HP and Cough

Hi SJ, hope you are doing great!
this person is in the third week of health point, he is experiencing cough most of the time and is trying to cut down on smoking at the same time. he smokes around 7 cigarettes a day now, compare to 20 a day before health point. how can we help his coughing disappear?
His mom who is helping him to prepare food, most of the time prepares chicken as the main protein meal (so not to trouble the mum). If protein food, he eat the normal hard boiled eggs, tuna, salmon, on other days. his mum told him 'an old wives tales' that if you eat chicken everyday, you will be having cough.

i think is normal for a smoker who try to cut down his smoking to have cough,this is a reaction form the body,he needs to take cough syrup to help him if very bad,cure his cough then only continue his HP,go and see doctors if his cough is very very bad,otherwise,just get him on cough sweets to help control his cough,take lots of vitamin C besides his normal HP supplements..also check with kenny if he has some other suggestions on cough..all the best

This is kind of catch 22 situation. A smoker going through HP may experience cough because the body detox. And because of the cough, he or she may see doctor to stop the cough that will further aggravate the cough once the medicine effect is over.

This is like going through a rehabilitation program. The person must endure this period of struggle before the cough will stop. It is going to be difficult.

Here are the some suggestions:
  • Ask your friend to stop the habit if possible.
  • His main source of protein should be protein powder, vegetables and bean curd. Chicken meat will aggravate cough. This is not a "old wife tale". Same goes to seafood. Fish with scale and fin is fine but seafood such as prawns and squids are no no.
  • Drinks lots of warm water and almond drink. You can ask your friend to buy a tin of almond powder to make his own almond drink. Drink at least 3 times a day. It must be warm. No cold drink.
  • Increase multi-carotene to 3 capsules 3 times a day. If palm turn orange, stop taking it. Take milk thistle 4 tablets before sleep. No need to over-dose on Bio-C. Have 1 COQ10 in the morning. Go to GNC and buy a bottle of Olive Leaf and Cordyceps. For both, take 2 capsules 3 times a day. Once the cough has stop, continue to take Cordyceps for another week.
  • At night, sleep in a well-ventilated room. Air-con room is no no.
  • Drink onion soup. Buy 2 or 3 big brown australian onions. Those that are used by the India food stalls, not those small reddish local onions. Wash it clean, chop the head and tail, do not peel. The outer skin is important. Boil soup. Can add some brown sugar to get some taste. Brown sugar only. Boil for about 10 minutes and drink warm.

Diffuse Adenomyosis

I just got another news from my Filipino friend that she has diffuse adenomyosis. Her doctor said it is quite thick now. Oh man!!! Isn't it worrisome? 8-(

So what is Adenomyosis? In the medical world, there are many theories to this conditions and nobody knows what causes it?

You can google and finds tons of information on it, but most likely, they will all confuse you. In my opinions, the following are the causes of adenomyosis. However, I will still prefer that you discuss with your doctor for more information. After all, I'm not a doctor.
  • Adenomyosis is an Endometriosis conditions. Endometriosis is a condition of abnormal cells growth that form in the lining of uterus. Thus, an adenomyosis is confined to the uterus area.
  • Adenomyosis is also a blood clot conditions. Thus, it is necessary to improve the blood flow of the body.
  • There are researches pointing to living in a toxic environment will cause such conditions. Especially exposure to both PCBs and Dioxin. Thus, it is important to invest in a water filter system at home. You never know what kind of toxins that goes into our water. Furthermore, when was the last time our government change the municipal water pipes? checkout this link and this one too.
  • Besides our water, the air is a main concern too. Are you living in a highly polluted environment? Near a factory? Main road and etc... Because, fuel by-products will contain these toxins too. By breathing it in over a long period of time will affect the body hormone system. If you are living in a highly toxic environment, it is time to look for another house and move away. If not, invest in a air-purifier system. However, an air-purifier system is not a permanent solution.

Fatty Liver, Gallstone problem, Urinary Tract Infection and Elevated Blood Sugar

Recently, I got to know a good friend who is currently having health challenges. She is from Philippines and seriously speaking, I'm quite worry for her. The Filipino's diet is very oily, very sweet and very saltish. It is very unhealthy and thus, it will pose a serious health challenge to the nation.

Just imagine, the country has to spend millions or if not, billions of peso on public health instead of other investment objectives. I hope that this good friend of mine would be a healthy pretty lady as soon as possible.

She told me that she has elevated blood sugar and her doctor is just one step away to declare her a diabetes. I believe diabetes is not a permanent disease. It can be control and revert as long as we take control of our life.

She also told me there has been some abnormal growth in her breast. Breast is a very delicate organ in a woman's body. It is easily affected by the body hormone. Thus, a dysfunction Liver will also affect the breast. Not only that, nowadays, all the meat that we eat is full of synthetic hormones. All poultries, seafoods and etc... These hormones have a devastating effect on our body. That is why kids grow faster and bigger than before. And thus, it will also have devastating effects on the breast.

Let's say, if one day you are facing a similar problems like hers, what should you do? We need to break down the problems into two areas: Immediate and Long term.

So, what are the immediate tasks or objectives to achieve? Immediate objectives are something that we can achieve within a month.

  • Remove the gallstones. If not, it will affect the Liver
  • Start switching to healthy diet.
  • Go onto a weight management program.
Long term objectives? Long term objectives as something that we can achieve within 3 months or longer.
  • If a lady has urinary tract infections, it means the pro-biotics in the body has been wiped out. Most likely, she had taken anti-biotics before and the doctors didn't bother to explain the side-effect to her. This is very common as many doctors either don't understand or don't believe in this. Furthermore, if a lady has UTI, the doctor will most likely prescribe anti-biotics to solve it. This is just a temporary solution and the UTI will definitely come back again.
  • A fatty liver will take a long time to heal. Hence, whoever has a fatty liver needs to start focusing on Liver-friendly diet. A fatty liver shows that the body has started to lose its ability to breakdown fats. Furthermore, the chances of getting heart-related problem is very high too. Especially clogged arteries.
  • An elevated blood sugar shows 2 problems. Insulin resistance has started and the Liver maybe affecting the pancreas too. After all, Liver is the body biggest hormone producing organ and the pancreas is also control by the Liver in one way or another.
  • Make daily exercise as part of our lifestyle. Walk at least 10,000 steps per day. Get a pedometer. It will be good if this 10,000 steps are walked continuously. If not, this should be the minimum numbers of steps achieve per day. If at the end of the day, you haven't achieved your 10,000 steps, then just continue to walk until you reach 10,000. Make it habit.
Let's start focusing on what we should do on a daily basis to resolve these problems. Success is a simple discipline repeat everyday.

As I mentioned before, we need to start focusing on Liver friendly diet. This will help the Liver to heal. According to Lin Haifeng, one day of damage requires three days of repair. Thus, when we are sick, it takes the body long time to heal completely because the sickness doesn't happen on a single day. It is a cumulative effect.

Breakfast:

  • Take your breakfast as early as possible, and take it before brushing your teeth. Do you remember our teacher taught us to brush our teeth after meal, not before meal? However, it is important to scrap our tongue first thing in the morning and follow by a glass freshly squeezed lemon juice with warm water. This will heal the Liver.
  • Then take your shower and etc...
  • Take Power Breakfast. It gives the body enough nutrients to jump start the day. Also, it helps to balance blood sugar. If the breakfast is sugar rich or full of carbohydrates, it will make you crave for sugar the entire day.
  • Besides Power Breakfast, you can also try this low GI breakfast. I got it from Patrick Holford low GI/GL breakfast menu. 56g of oats, 200ml of soya milk or 2 scoops of Nutrilite protein power with 200ml of water, 1 small teaspoon of manuka honey and 50g of flex seed.
  • If you are taking the low GI/GL breakfast, then take the following supplements:
      • Double X or Daily x 1
      • Multi-carotene x 3 (If your skin has turned orange, stop taking it)
      • Bio-C x 4
      • Lecithin E x 4
      • Calcium Magnesium x 1
      • B-complex x 3
      • Nutri Bifidus x 1 (This is the pro-biotics for your body)

Morning snack:
  • Morning snack should be at least 2 hours before your lunch time. For example, if you have your breakfast at 7 to 7:30am, then your morning snack time will be around 9plus to 10. If you have to time it accurately. The main reason of taking morning snack is to balance the blood sugar and prevent over-eating during lunch time. Our aim is to eat more meals but eat less during each meal. This is the best way to balance blood sugar. Once our sugar is balanced, we start losing weight together with our 10,000 steps exercise per day.
  • During your morning snack time, do give yourself at least 10 to 15 minutes break. Walk around, have some SUN and breath fresh air. The main aim is to stay away from the office as far as possible.
  • What to take for morning snack? You can prepare some fruits. Here are some recommendations:
      • Apple x 1. Do remember to scarp the wax on the apple skin. We need the skin as it contains fibre. Clean the apple with vegetable wash, not just running it under the tap water. The tap water is actually very dirty.
      • If not apple, you can also take a small bowl of berries. It can be any kind of berries.
      • If not berries, take a small bowl of grapes.
      • Lastly, take a capsule of Nutrilite Omega fish oil.
Lunch:
  • Well, it is lunch time now. What are we going to eat? Before we decide what to eat, do take 4 tablets of Nutrilite Fruit and Vegetable Fibre about 15 minutes before your lunch. These fibre tablets will do wonders in helping you to balance your blood sugar, absorb toxins from the colon and remove it in the morning easily.
  • Focus on food that is great for our Liver and our brain:
      • Lightly stir-fried or steam vegetables, or salad immersed in olive oil, but not too much of it.
      • Have a small portion of either beef, chicken with no skin or pork with no skin. Your meat should be cooked in such a way that is easy for you to chew. It is difficult for you to chew, it will be difficult for your stomach to digest. For example, fried stuffs are oily and the meat are usually dry. They are bad for health. Meat that is steam, stew or cook in the soup is friendly to our stomach.
      • If you can, have some bean curd too. Bean curd should be steam, stew or cook in the soup too.
      • If you like to eat seafood, go for steam or lightly grilled or pan-fried. Only take seafood with scales and fins. Scales and fins only seafood.
      • Vegetable should form 60 to 80% of your plate. The rest will be your meat, bean curd and seafood.
      • If you are thirsty, drink water. In fact, it is good to drink lots of water before your meal, not after your meal or during your meal. Cold drink will make your stomach contract and loses blood flowing into it. It will make digestion more difficult. Hence, drinking room temperature or warm water is better for our stomach.
  • After lunch, take the following supplements:

Afternoon snack:
  • Your afternoon snack time should be around 3 plus to 4. It should be about 2 hours before your dinner time. As you can see, it is necessary for us to eat small meal during our lunch time because we are going to snack in the late afternoon. If not, our stomach will be too full and we can't snack. Snacking on healthy food will help to balance our blood sugar and thus, the crave for other fluids will eventually stop.
  • Our afternoon snack will be the same as our morning snack.
  • As for supplement, it will be the same too. 1 capsule of Nutrilite Salmon Omega fish oil.
  • Have a 10 to 15 minutes break. Walk around outside the office. Breath some fresh air and have some Sunlight.
Afternoon snack 2:
  • Afternoon snack 2 is optional. It makes sense if you have early lunch such as around 11plus to 12. If you have it during that timing, then your first afternoon snack will be around 2plus to 3plus.
  • Thus, you may need to snack again around 5. If you are going to have dinner around 6, then just eat half the portion of usual snacks. Half an apple or half a bowl of berries or grapes.
  • No supplement is required.
Dinner:
  • Dinner is the important meal of the day. It is so important that we need to eat lesser than our lunch. This is the time whereby we need to start preparing our body to rest. Our body can only repair if it has enough raw materials and rest. If not, it won't repair and over the years, the body will breakdown and this is when all the chronic diseases start to surface. High blood pressure, diabetes and etc...
  • And yet, many people got it wrong. They treat dinner as the least important meal. They eating a lot during this last meal of the day. Eating more than their breakfast and lunch combined. Isn't that amazing? By eating this much, our body can't rest. If it cannot rest, it cannot repair. If it cannot repair, it will breakdown.
  • No wonder many families today have over-weight kids. It is common today to see youngsters suffering from chronic diseases during their height of their career. Afterall, chronic diseases take at least 10 years or more to develop. If you observe the timing, it all started when they were young, not when they start working.
  • It is fine if our dinner is just like our lunch as long as it is not too late. We should have 4 hours of gap before we get onto our bed. If you want to sleep by 10, eat your dinner around 6pm. The later we eat, the lesser we should eat. The benchmark is dinner should not be more than lunch. Same as lunch or lesser.
  • Dinner should be a meal that is friendly to the stomach.

  • After your dinner, check your pedometer. Have you achieved your 10,000 steps objective? If not, take a walk to achieve it. If you have achieved your 10,000 steps, give yourself a pat on the back. And still, go and take a 30 minutes walk.
1 hour before sleep:
  • Before sleep is the time we want to give the body enough raw materials to repair. Especially raw materials for the Liver is very critical. Also, the Liver can only start repairing effectively if we sleep before 11pm. That is why people who sleeps past 11pm tend to age faster.
  • Have an apple before you sleep, or have those fruits that you had been taking during your snack time. If you have listened to Jim Rohn CDs, he said his father has this habit of taking an apple before he sleeps and he lives to a ripe old age. If it is so easy to do it and save you thousands of medicines fees, why people is not doing it? Well, it is easy not to do it. He said we should be smarter than this and I totally agree with him.
  • Supplements to take:
        • Milk Thistle with Dandelion x 4 (very critical for the Liver)
        • Bio-C x 4
        • Multi-carotene x 3 (If your skin has turned orange, stop taking it)
        • Lecithin E x 4. It is even better if you can take 8.
        • Passion Flower and Chamomile x 1 (take this if you have trouble sleeping)
