Autoimmune disease - Lupus

As the name implies, Lupus is a disease whereby the body immune system attack itself and there are 2 types of Lupus disease. SLE or or DLE. SLE affects different parts of the body and even organs. Thus, SLE is the more serious types. DLE is the less serious type because it only affects the skin.

Supplements required, both Nutrilite and other brands:

  • Calcium Magnesium: 1/1/1/1
  • Protein Powder: 1/1/1/1
  • B-complex: 3/3/3/3 (Take 1 in between the timings).
  • Omega 3: Take flaxseed oil. Buy it from Organic store.
  • EPO Plus: Take according to bottle instructions.
  • Garlic and Licorice: Take according to bottle instructions.
  • Bio-C: 4/4/4/4
  • Multi-vit. Either Daily or Double X. If taking Daily, take 1 tablet, 3 times a day. If taking Double X, 2 times will do.
  • Nutri-bifidus: Take 1 strip during each meal.
  • Multi-carotene: 3/3/3/3. If skin turn orange, stop. Once it is clear, repeat the cycle.
  • Lecithin E: 4/4/4/4 for 1 week. Thereafter, increase it to 8/8/8/8. If not, just ensure you achive 32 tablets per day.
  • Bromelain: Take according to bottle instructions.
  • Milk Thistle: 4 tablets before sleep.
Taking supplements are not enough. There are food that is good and bad for Lupus. Taking food that is bad for Lupus will only aggravate the symptoms and cause more sufferings. Thus, avoiding these food is very very critical.

  • Eat a diet of low fat, low salt and red meat. This is because you want to take care of the kidney. Should you want to eat salt, take seasalt or rock salt, not table salt. Take salt moderately. Thus, fast food is a no no to Lupus. It contains too much salt.
  • When come to cooking, use olive oil only.
  • Eat only full-grain rice such as brown rice, millet and etc... No white rice.
  • Eat lots of green vegetables.
  • Eat lots of non-acidic fruits. Acidic fruits are lemon and oranges. These fruits contain citrus acid. Tropic fruits are good. Especially papaya and pineapple. It contains enzymes to prevent inflammation.
  • After each meal, eat at least a serving of fresh papaya and pineapple. Fresh, not canned.
  • Take at least 2 tablets of Fiber to ensure daily bowel movement.
  • No dairy products.
  • No caffeine a products.
  • No sweet stuffs such as cakes and etc...
  • Avoid vegetables such as eggplant, pepper, tomatoes and etc... These are called nightshade vegetables.
  • Avoid Alfalfa, green sprouts and similar types of greens.
  • Get plenty of rest and do brisk walking. Best to do during night time since it is cool and there is no sunlight. If not, do it in the early morning.
  • Use sunscreen when going out during daytime.
  • Use hypoallergenic soaps only.
  • Avoid fluorescent lighting at home. It is unavoidable in both office and shopping area. You have to wear your sunscreen. At home, if possible, change the light to incandescent light bulbs.
  • Don't go to places with lots of people. Who knows you may catch a cold or cough.
  • No birth control. If need to control birth, use condoms instead.
  • Use a filtered shower head. Cholrine is quite harmful to rashes.
  • Use gentle shower cream or gel on the body. I suggest either Amway body shampoo or Dish drop. If both can't work, try those organic baby body shampoo that does not contain any chemical.
  • Basically, any soap that will dry the skin will be bad for Lupus patient.

Multi-carotene and Yellow Orange Skin

If you have yellow orange on your palm, not to worry about it. The body is simply telling you that the Liver can no longer store carotenoid and now, it is releasing it to the bloodstream.

What we need to do is stop taking caroteniod related supplements and fruits.

It will take a few days to clear the colour. No big deal.

Wife supplements for last trimester

Nowadays, the baby is growing very fast and I can see she is getting more tired than the last one. Also, baby rapid growth means the mother needs to take more nutrients to supplement the growth.

This is how it should be taken: after breakfast/after lunch/after dinner/before sleep.

Bio-C: 4/4/3/4
Calcium/Magnesium: 1/1/1/1
Iron Folic: 1/1/-/-
Lecithin E: -/-/7/8
Multi-carotene: 1/1/-/-
B-Complex: 4/4/4/4
Protein Powder: 2/2/2/- (you can use either berry or original taste)
Salmon Omega: 1/1/1/1
Children Chewable Multi-vit: 2/2/2/2

Health Pointe 2.0 verdict

Yesterday was my last day of doing Health Pointe 2.0. Although I couldn't follow the food menu completely, I was able to lose weight. Amazing.

I think these are the crucial things that we need to do during Health Pointe.
  • Snack every hour accurately. Carry a watch that has timer. I carry my casio watch wherever I go. Once the timer beep, I will snack. This is something I had never done before. By snacking every hour, it keeps a blood sugar balance, stop craving and last but not least, tell the body that food is easily available. Thus, there isn't a need for the body to store fats.
  • Drinks lots of water. This is something that I didn't do enough in the past. When the body is well hydrated, it will flush out toxins and enables the kidney to function optimally. At least I don't feel thirsty this week. Usually, we tend to drink when we feel the thirsty. This is bad for the body.
  • Take carbohydrate out of the diet. Well, my diet doesn't really have much carbohydate since I'm not a rice person. I usually get my carbohydrate from vegetables and noodles.
  • This diet forces me to take fibre tablets before meal and because of this, I have more than one bowel movement per day. This is excellence because, we should have at least 2 to 3 times a day.
  • This diet forces me to take at least 4 Omega 3 per day. In the past, I will only take 2 or some days, not at all. I'm not too sure what it has done to me but one thing for sure, I think I didn't feel so stress. Taking so much oil didn't increase the fat percentage. I know a lot of people who put on weight when they take Omega 3. I wonder what did they do wrong?
  • The program encourages us to do at least 10,000 steps per day. As for me, I'm already doing a lot more. But what I discovered was, I have more energy to do my exercise as compared to last time. I felt I can last longer. I tested it by doing bodycombat follow by bodystep. Both are cardio intensive exercises that are not meant for beginners. I was able to last the entire bodystep class without feeling exhausted after combat. Not bad!!!
So what verdict is? I think whether you are over weight or not, I will encourage you to do Health Pointe for the following reasons:
  • If you are obese, just do it. God does not send us sms before he sends heart attack.
  • If you are fat % is above the recommended limit, just do it to burn some fats.
  • If your hydration level is below the recommended limit, just do it.
My readings before sleep:
Weight: 74.4
Fat%: 17.1% (This is definitely better than before)
Water: 60.5% (Hydration has gone up. This is good for the body)
