Health Pointe 2.0 verdict

Yesterday was my last day of doing Health Pointe 2.0. Although I couldn't follow the food menu completely, I was able to lose weight. Amazing.

I think these are the crucial things that we need to do during Health Pointe.
  • Snack every hour accurately. Carry a watch that has timer. I carry my casio watch wherever I go. Once the timer beep, I will snack. This is something I had never done before. By snacking every hour, it keeps a blood sugar balance, stop craving and last but not least, tell the body that food is easily available. Thus, there isn't a need for the body to store fats.
  • Drinks lots of water. This is something that I didn't do enough in the past. When the body is well hydrated, it will flush out toxins and enables the kidney to function optimally. At least I don't feel thirsty this week. Usually, we tend to drink when we feel the thirsty. This is bad for the body.
  • Take carbohydrate out of the diet. Well, my diet doesn't really have much carbohydate since I'm not a rice person. I usually get my carbohydrate from vegetables and noodles.
  • This diet forces me to take fibre tablets before meal and because of this, I have more than one bowel movement per day. This is excellence because, we should have at least 2 to 3 times a day.
  • This diet forces me to take at least 4 Omega 3 per day. In the past, I will only take 2 or some days, not at all. I'm not too sure what it has done to me but one thing for sure, I think I didn't feel so stress. Taking so much oil didn't increase the fat percentage. I know a lot of people who put on weight when they take Omega 3. I wonder what did they do wrong?
  • The program encourages us to do at least 10,000 steps per day. As for me, I'm already doing a lot more. But what I discovered was, I have more energy to do my exercise as compared to last time. I felt I can last longer. I tested it by doing bodycombat follow by bodystep. Both are cardio intensive exercises that are not meant for beginners. I was able to last the entire bodystep class without feeling exhausted after combat. Not bad!!!
So what verdict is? I think whether you are over weight or not, I will encourage you to do Health Pointe for the following reasons:
  • If you are obese, just do it. God does not send us sms before he sends heart attack.
  • If you are fat % is above the recommended limit, just do it to burn some fats.
  • If your hydration level is below the recommended limit, just do it.
My readings before sleep:
Weight: 74.4
Fat%: 17.1% (This is definitely better than before)
Water: 60.5% (Hydration has gone up. This is good for the body)

Why am I not losing weight?

A lot of time, I will get this question from people who are on a weight lose program.

Yes, you may have lost fats, lose some inches here and there and yet, the weight is still constant. Why is that so?

To understand this, we need to know the 3 phases of housekeeping by the body when you are on a weight lose program.

Our body will go into three phases of housekeeping:

Catabolism->Stabilization->Anabolism

Catabolism is a process whereby the body breakdown molecules into smaller units. These smaller units are made up degenerative materials in the body. Hence, during this phase, the body will discard all the old or not-so-good cells out of the body and replace it with new cells. The production of these new cells depend very much on the food we eat. If we eat clean and nutritious food, our body will build nice and good cells. And that's what we should do. During this phase, we will lose weight. This is because the rate of destroying the old tissues is faster than the rate of growing the good tissues. And of course, we will lose fats too. During this stage, it is important to drink lots of water.

Stabilization is whereby the rate of destruction is equal to the rate of growth. During this period, we stop losing weight. This is the phase whereby you no matter what you do, you don't seem to lose weight.

The last stage is anabolism. This is the final phase of the body regenerative process. During this stage, our calorie intakes maybe low but because the rate of growth is faster than the rate of destroying old tissues, we will start to put on weight. In fact, based on my person experience, I had actually gained 2 kg during this phase.

Lastly, if we experience any sickness, don't panic. It is just a sign that the body is detoxifying. Learn to live with it and we will be fine. So where are you now?

How do we burn fats?

Everybody is trying to lose weight. Whether they are fats or not. Whether they are over-weight or not. Whether whether and whether...

Here's the situations, many of us do not know how does weight lose comes about. We only know that we have to stop eating certain food, starve ourselves and replace certain meals. However, once we achieve our desired weight and go back to our original diet, our body goes back to its original weight or more. Isn't that exciting? We must really understand how does our body burn fats in order to lose weight effectively. Yes, we have to exercise. However, have you heard your friend saying that I have done this or that and yet, no result? Let's understand why.

Our body has stored energy called glycogen. Glycogen is stored by the Liver as our body first level of backup tank fuel. Our secondary backup tank fuel is our body fats. So, how can we start using our secondary backup tank fuel? It is by using up our first backup tank fuel. Then, your next question will be, how do we use up our first tank fuel?

Here's the situation. Let's say our body has a burnt rate of 10 calories per 10 minutes. That means, it burns 60 calories per hour. Let's say a bowl of rice and a scoop of protein have 100 calories each. This is just an example, not real.

If we eat a bowl of white rice, the body quickly turn the white rice to glucose in the body immediately. That means, right now you have 100 calories lying around in the body. Because the body can only use 10 calories every 10 minutes, you will have left with 90 calories lying around in the body. Now, the body has to store this spare calories. First place to store is our Liver. That is where we get our glycogen. Let's say the glycogen warehouse is full, what's next? Well, the body will turn it into fats and that's how we put on weight. This is the reason why many people eating fish soup will never lose weight. This is because the noodles will turn into glucose fast and the body can't use it straight away.

Let's take another example. As we mentioned earlier, 1 scoop of protein is also 100 calories. And for protein, it is different from white rice. The body takes a longer time to digest and thus, the body is releasing 10 calories from protein every 10 minutes. What does that mean? It means our body is effectively using up all the protein that we take. Will there be any unused calories lying around? Well, the answer is no. Since there is no unused energy lying around and you are either walking 10,000 steps or jogging, the body needs to start using its backup fuel. The first level will be glycogen from the Liver. Once that is used up, the next backup fuel will be our fats. In order for this process to kick in, it will take about 3 days.

Once our body starts burning fats, the by-products ketone will be released. We need to remove ketone from the body by drinking lots of water. By this time, our free-radical level is high too. Take lots of anti-oxidants such as Bio-C, multi-carotene and Lecithin E.

Lastly, just let the body continue to burn fats as long as you like until you reach your desired weight. Remember, drinks lots of water and take lots of anti-oxidants.

Lose Weight 123

There are many ways to lose weight, I will propose an easier way to do it. It is adapted from Health Pointe 2.0. However, it will be better if you can do Health Pointe 2.0. It will give you better results.

Before you start this program, please read "how do we burn fats?" It will give you a better idea how and why this program work.

Supplements required:
  • Protein Powder: This is to ensure that your daily protein ratio is higher than your carbohydrates. Protein is the basic foundation of the body makeup. Usually, meats, beans and nuts will contain proteins. However, these are not recommended for long term intakes because of digestion challenges.
  • B-complex: To improve metabolism.
  • Lecithin E: Lecithin helps to remove fat from the body. Vitamin E improves elasticity of the skin. Take it with Bio-C to have a perfect skin.
  • Calcium Magnesium: To improve mineral balance.
  • Double X: Multi-vitamin to balance.
Basic:

Protein Powder: 2 scoops before each meal. If you are skipping any of your meal, you still have to take 2 scoops of protein powder.

B-complex: Always take 3 tablets is to 1 scoop of protein powder. That means, 6 tablets of B-complex for each meal. If you are taking Double X in that meal, reduce 1 tablet of B-complex.

Calcium Magnesium: take 1 tablet is to 1 scoop of protein powder. That means, 2 tablets of calcium magnesium for each meal, together with your 6 tablets B-complex and 2 scoops of protein powder.

Double X: Take as per instructions. 2 times a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening.

Optional but good to take:

Lecithin E: Take as many as you want. To have good results, take at least 4 tablets 4 times a day.

Bio-C: Take 4 tablets 4 times a day together with Protein Powder and Lecithin E. This combination will give you beautiful skin.

Drinks lots of WTS water. If not, at least mineral water. Not those distilled water.

Other equipments:
  • Keto-Diastix sticks
  • Weighing machine that can measure both fats and water
  • A pedo meter
Exercise Routine:
  • Walk at least 10,000 steps per day
  • If you have lost about 2 kg, start challenging yourself by ensuring 5% of your 10,000 steps are vertical steps.
  • For every 2 kg you lost, increase your vertical steps percentage by 1% until a maximum of 10% of your 10,000 steps. Of course, if you can do more, why not?
  • If you are running on that day, then you don't need to do 10,000 steps.

If you follow these instructions 100% and reduce your carbo intake, your body should start burning fats on the 3rd day. On the 3rd or 4th day morning, use the Keto-Diastix stick to test your urine. It will show that you are burning fats. If it didn't happen, it means you have to increase your protein intake and exercise more. Once you start burning fats, increase your exercise activities and maintain what you have been doing the previous day. Just continue doing it until you reach your idea weight. Take your urine daily, first thing in the morning.

The critical factor of success are as follows:

  • Always take 2 scoops of protein powder before each meal. Even you skip your breakfast, you still have to take 2 scoops of protein powder.
  • Listen to your body needs after taking 2 scoop of protein powder. You should be eating less, not more.
  • You should be reducing your intake of carbohydrates. Especially rice, noodles and etc... Even if you are drinking fish soup noodles, that noodles is the culprit.
  • 10,000 steps are a good start. Vertical steps are even better. 10,000 steps plus vertical steps plus some form of gym exercises are the best.
  • Your protein intake ratio must always be higher than your carbohydrates intake. For example, if you drink fish soup noodle, the protein intake from the fish is lower than the noodle. Thus, people will never lose by following this kind of formula.
  • Drink lots of, lots of, lots of water.
  • Lastly, you should take at least 3 tin of protein powder before stopping these weight management program.
